Hannah Szwed, LAC

  • Hannah Szwed is a Licensed Associate Counselor in the state of New Jersey. She received her M.A. in Psychological Counseling and Ed.M. in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. Hannah has clinical experience working in a specialized school for neurodivergent children and a private mental health practice. She has treated a wide range of needs including, but not limited to, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, school-related issues, family-related issues, behavioral issues, and emotion dysregulation.

    Hannah specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. She feels passionate about creating a space where her patients feel safe, unconditionally accepted, validated, heard, and empowered. In her holistic therapeutic approach, Hannah considers the whole person and their environment in creating a unique individualized approach for each patient. She uses an integration of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Hannah also incorporates ideas from various evidence-based psychosocial treatment modalities into her therapeutic approach, specifically Collaborative Problem Solving/ Collaborative and Proactive Solutions and The Social Thinking Methodology. She believes that children exhibit challenging behaviors because they lack the skills to behave expectedly, not because they want to misbehave. Hannah feels passionate about teaching her patients the skills they need to succeed and empowering them during their therapeutic journey.
